What is being procured?
The Sustainable Development of the Mining Sector in Uganda (SDMU) project is co-financed by the European Union (EU) and Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and is implemented by GIZ in collaboration with Uganda"s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) and its Departments of Geological Survey and Mines (DGSM). The project aims to enhance the business environment and attractiveness of Uganda's mining sector to support socio-economic development and align with the EU"s Global Gateway strategy, particularly the Critical Raw Materials Act. It focuses on five key outputs: 1) Investment promotion, 2) ASM formalization, 3) Mineral value addition and processing, 4) Strengthening oversight, and 5) Responsible sourcing.
