Hankinnan kohteena on optinen käänteismikroskooppi metallografiaan ja metallurgiaan, mikä on suunniteltu erityisesti metallografiseen ja metallurgiseen tutkimukseen sekä materiaalien mikrorakenteiden analysointiin. Hankittavan kokonaisuuden tulee sisältää sekä laitteisto että siihen liittyvä mittaus- ja analysointiohjelmisto, jotka mahdollistavat monipuoliset automaattiset mittaukset, kuvantamisen ja analysoinnin.
