Eine kryogene Abbremszelle (CSC) ist ein großes, mit Gas gefülltes kryogenes Vakuumkammersystem, das dazu dient, schnelle Ionenstrahlen aus dem Fragmentseparator Super-FRS abzubremsen und auf niedrige Energien zu "thermalisieren", damit sie abgezogen und an nachgeschaltete Präzisionsexperimente weitergeleitet werden können.
