What is being procured?
The objective of the proposed scheme is to provide a transport corridor through the northern hinterland of Dundalk which will cater for growth and development over the 20 year period 2025 2044 during which time the population of the town is expected to grow significantly. The lands to the north of the town centre have been zoned for both commercial and residential use. Additional infrastructure is required to enable access to these areas and also to cater for new locally generated traffic. The proposed scheme will cater for a medium level of development in the future. This scenario is considered the most appropriate level of sustainable development for the aforementioned period.
