What is being procured?
Revenues Customs Service requires ion mobility spectroscopic (IMS) technology to perform real time detection and identification of trace chemicals which may be benign, hazardous and/or illegal. The chemicals may be located within legitimate cargo, postage/parcel consignments and personal effects. In this context “trace” refers to substances which are not visible to the naked eye. Revenue Customs Service operates in a variety of environments. One system will be placed in Customs channels in each of Knock Airport, Kerry Airport, Dublin Port and in the primary mail and parcel hub in Athlone.
