Nygårdstunnelen in Bergen was opened in 1999 and is 864 metres long. The tunnel runs from the Puddefjord Bridge to Nygårdstangen, with exit ramps at O.J. Brochsgate. There are 2 lanes from the Puddefjord Bridge, whilst there are 1 lanes from O.J. Brochs gate. These meet in the tunnel so that there are 3 lanes at the exit and entrance at Nygårdstangen. The annual daily traffic is approx. 45,000. The tunnel shall be upgraded in accordance with the tunnel safety regulations and equipment in and outside the tunnel shall be replaced and replaced with new equipment that meets the current requirements.
