The Customer is the central bank of Denmark and is an independent, self-governing institution established by law. One of the Customer's main objectives is promoting safe settlement of cash. This is done by issuing banknotes and coins and ensuring that payments can be settled between banks. The Customer has an exclusive right to issue Danish banknotes as legal tender within the territory of Denmark. The monetary unit in Denmark is the Danish krone. The current denominations of banknotes are 50 kroner, 100 kroner, 200 kroner and 500 kroner.
