The Disease Prevention Unit of the European Commission’s (EC) Joint Research Centre has been assigned with tasks in the field of cancer prevention and rare diseases that include the development of new European guidelines and quality assurance schemes for the six most prevalent cancer sites (breast, cervical, colorectal, gastric, lung and prostate cancer) representing over 50% of the cancer burden in the European Union. The purpose of this procurement procedure is to provide continuity for the collection, analysis and assessment of the underpinning evidence informing the EC initiatives, following a uniform methodological framework.
